Polaris Instruments makes two vacuum pumps that generate high airflow, not high vacuum. High airflow is needed for holding down sheets of material onto a vacuum bed or for drying dispensing tips.  Both of these pumps are exceptionally quiet and can be used on the benchtop, where they will be barely audible over the background noise of a typical laboratory.

Note that high airflow and high vacuum do not go together and these pumps do NOT generate high levels of vacuum.
